Matt Arthur started working in lighting in Australia in 1989 and has over 25 years of experience as a freelance Lighting Designer/ Director, Systems Tech and Crew Chief in Concert Touring, Corporate shows, Theatre and Television. He has worked on live shows from clubs to stadiums.
In Australia he worked with many top artists such as Paul Kelly (including a US tour in 1998), Tommy Emmanuel, Kate Ceberano, Tina Arena, The Wiggles and Slim Dusty.
After many successful years in the business in Australia Matt Arthur made the move to London in 2000. Since then, he has continued successfully working with artists including James Taylor, Mark Ronson, Supergrass, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Keane, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Sonic Youth, Jessie Ware and most recently, Bryan Ferry, The Queen Extravaganza and a return to Hurts in early 2016.
His experience in television and film includes some work on the Da-Vinci Code, a live DVD for David Gray in late 2005 and the position of Lighting Director on the 2nd stage at the Radio 1 Big Weekend (2007), recorded and broadcasted on the BBC. A live recording and broadcast for Keane, from Austin City Limits in Texas mid 2012 was another successful event.
When the spotlights are off, Matt Arthur enjoys his family life in South London with his wife and 3 kids. He likes to cook, with BBQs being a specialty and enjoying the odd beer whilst doing it.
